♟ But You'd Look So Much Better inside out ♟
☙ As she instinctively reached for her weapon, the Remnant boy had lunged forwards, grabbing hold of Alice and placing himself between Shakaya and her cousin. He was braced, as if he expected her to strike at any moment as she spoke.
☙ But when she did, he finally looked up at her, something having shifted in his demeanor. Something almost like fear. Both his body and voice were trembling as he denied remembering her. But there was something in the way he spoke, too. If he was afraid now, when he hadn't seemed to be afraid of her when he'd thought her a threat, that meant that there was a tiny part of him that was beginning to remember. That had to be what was frightening him. At least, that's what Shakaya hoped as she took another step closer. Her heart was aching. She didn't quite no why, but she wanted the them to recall the times she'd shared with them, the bond they'd once had, desperately. She was afraid, too.
☙ Alice was already looking in his gaze, urging him to remember as Shakaya knelt down by them. The woman spoke softly. "But you do, don't you?" Her voice was uncharacteristically gentle. Even if he hadn't actually remembered yet, she hoped that her words would help coax it out of his mind. Alice had remembered, surely he could too? "It's me, Shakaya Maryelle Johanne." She smiled just slightly. "...You and Alice were a couple, both of you just slightly older than me. I used to see you frequently. The dinners I had with you were always the best!" Her small smile changed to grin as she kept struggling to hold the Remnant's gaze.
