[Ali sat behind a gravestone, huddled around a small fire of leaves and small branches as she wrapped her head and shoulders with a thin blanket. It was cold and chilly out but even the fire and blanket didn't seem to warm the small remmant up. Maybe if she wrapped the blanket around her body instead of her head, then she might be a bit warmer, but she needed to hide her hair since it was a dead give away that she wasn't human. And those few slip-ups almost costed her her life and Sky's.
Speaking of Sky,where was he? He said he'd been back soon, so where was he? It's been more than an hour and he wasn't back so she wouldn't be lonely or in the dead of the silence. She looked at the gravestone. Yup...the dead of it. She sighed as she wrapped her arms around herself, still trying to keep warm. A sneeze came out and she began to wounder: could remmants get sick? She was new to this whole thing and still didn't know everything about it. Could a remmant die just like a human could or were they stronger in every way?
She leaned against the tombstone and tried to fall asleep, hoping when she woke up, the next thing she'd see would be Sky's face. She missed her partner.
[Sorry its crap :/ that was like... my fifth time retyping it]

♟ But You'd Look So Much Better inside out ♟
☙ Shivering, Shakaya wrapped the white lab coat she was still wearing around her more tightly, as if it would help keep out the cold. The cemetery was neither the warmest nor the most pleasant place in Arcis - even just by standing there, she swore the atmosphere would chill you down to the bone.
☙ It wasn't a place she often visited, either. In fact, just going about Arcis alone was something unusual for her. Usually, she was either wrapped up in her job as a General, her weapon research, or hanging out wherever Amaranth went. Indeed, it was a rare day when she would leave the Northern District of her own decision, but today was somewhat special...
☙ Dragging her eyes downwards, the woman rested her gaze at the gravestone beneath her feet, her eyes tracing across the name etched into the surface: Rikard Johanne. Shakaya felt a lump start to form in her throat, her eyes dampening just slightly, but then she forced them shut, shaking her head. No. She wouldn't cry. She never cried. Instead, she turned to a much more familiar emotion - anger. She felt her fists clench. Damn them! Damn the New Children - it was them that took him away!
☙ But no amount of rage or revenge would bring him back now, so she bent down, lightly placing the bouquet of flowers she was carrying down in front of the grave. "Happy birthday, Dad..." She muttered quietly, not moving her eyes from the white roses now resting below the achingly familiar name. Today would've been his 53 birthday, but the last time she'd seen him alive, she'd been 17, in those cold, white halls of the hospital.
☙ The New Children had almost taken Amaranth away from her, too. Thank goodness he'd survived! Thank goodness... That was why she'd vowed to protect him. She wouldn't let anyone or anything take away the one person she had left! And by working as a General, she'd help to make sure that the New Children never stepped outside their place, as well. "Aren't you proud of me, Dad? ...Aren't you proud?" She spoke aloud again, almost as if expecting to hear an answer. She still missed the days when he'd nod and take her in his arms.
☙ The 22 year old just kept staring at the grave-site, almost as if in a trance, until what sounded like a sneeze all at once made her jump. Going right into her instincts as a fighter, her hands quickly flew the disk-like weapon she had tied to the belt beneath her lab-coat, but then she saw a rising trail of smoke as she turned, and what looked like a faint, warm orange glow. ...Had someone made themselves comfortable here?
☙ Just in case, she kept her hand on her weapon as she approached. As a General, she saw it as her duty to investigate any such odd behavior. Sure enough, as she approached she saw a figure sitting near one of the gravestones, a blanket around it's...head? "Who are you? What's your business here?" Shakaya demanded without approaching too much further. She wasn't close enough to really get a good look at the figure or its face, but it looked like that of an adolescent. She doubted they were a threat, really, but sitting by a gravestone with a campfire in the cemetery certain was a bit unusual.
[OOC: It's fine^^]

Ali perked up when she heard a voice. Was someone else here in the cemetary? Well, it was possible. Humans liked to talk to the dead, she noticed. She never understood why since they never respond. An iidea of pretending to be tthis lady's dad popped into her head, but she quickly threw the idea away. That wouldn't be very funny or entertaining.
Then, suddenly, the lady popped up infront of her, asking what she was doing here. "I ran away," she said, lying smoothly. It had been a lie she's used over and over. Looking like a kid, it was quiet believable that she "ran away" since saying "I have to hide so people don't kill me" would bring too many questiions that she couldn't and wouldn't answer. But, still, as a precaution, she kept her eyes casted down. If her hair wouldn't give her away, her eyes would.
She puffed up her cheeks all child like and hovered just a bit over the fire, the locket around her neck escaping from under her shirt and just hanging from her neck. "You're not going to turn me in...right?" Ali asked. She couldn't run, that'd make her look just a tad more suspicious than having "ran away", but the fact her entire head was hidden just brought that back.

♟ But You'd Look So Much Better inside out ♟
☙ "I ran away." The strange girl answered quickly, her eyes tilted downward, before asking if Shakaya was going to turn her in. The woman just stared at the figure for a moment. The girl still looked the age where she'd be living with her parents, was that who'd she'd run away from? Even if that was simply the case, it still fell within their role as law enforcement of sorts to take care of such issues. ...As far as she was aware, though, no children had recently been reported missing, but it's not like that was a list she checked that often. The possibility was highly plausible.
☙ "Ran away? Ran away from what? And why?" She pressed, though she took a few steps closer, concluding that this girl seemed harmless enough.
☙ It was when a shimmer caught her eye that she all at once tensed, suddenly noticing the locket around the girl's neck for the first time as it reflected light from the nearby campfire. It had the name "Ali" etched into it, with a familiar color and shape. The General quickly took a step back again, her eyes showing what looked like a mixture of genuine surprise and alarm.
☙ She'd had a cousin with that nickname, once, and that locket looked just like the one she'd always worn. ...At least, until she disappeared following a Remnant attack...
☙ Shakaya's hand all at once flew back to her weapon. "W...where did you get that locket? Where did you get it?!" She demanded harshly, her eyes shifting.

I'LL KEEP YOU MY DIRTY LITTLE SECERT"I used to live in the southern distric," she lied. "My father beat me and my brother, but we got away and agreed to meet up here by...." she peeked at the grave stone "our grandfather's grave when we were seperated," she said, moving her self to the left a bit to hide herself even more, even if it meant she'd be a bit colder.
Ali jumped slightly, the blanket falling back a bit, but she quickly grabbed it, holding it in place. The woman had screamed at her about her necklace. Where did she get it? She woke up with it, just as simple as that. And since she hadn't a name at the time, she kept the locket and adopted the name Ali, not being creative enough after a concussion to think one up. The same with Sky, he had a locket too and so they stuck together after that, just trying to survive. Then, at one point, they just sat down and wondered where the lockets had came from...and, well, who were they, how come they didn't remember anything and why they were in that house. They came up with no answers.
"Because I am Ali?" she said questionably. She wasn't sure, but it was worth a shot. She was calling herself by the name of the locket so why, but once the words were out, she regretted them. The woman might accuse her of something and in this silent graveyard, she had no chance of getting out, unless someone near by started banging pots and pans.
"I mean...I woke up one morning in a broken house and I couldn't remember anything but I was wearing this locket so I guess I'm Ali..." she said with a pout in an accused voice. What she said was the truth, she didn't lie, but that didn't mean she had to go off an say that she was a remmant. With a shrug, she turned her head, her hair still hidden under the blanket but her neon blue eyes shown not just brightly but sadly. A sad child is what some people might see in the light, but at dark her eyes shown brightly. She was risking it, but maybe the woman had some sympathy.

♟ But You'd Look So Much Better inside out ♟
☙ The girl continued with her story, saying that she'd run away from the Souther District due to an abusive father.
☙ The girl started a bit, though, seeing taken aback at first as Shakaya brought up the locket. But then she gave a simple answer. "Because I am Ali?"
☙ Shakaya found herself clenching her fists. "You can't be... You can't be!" She shook her head. "...She was a year older than me, before she...before she disappeared..." She stared at the locket again. True, it was of course possible that there were other people with that name, but she knew that necklace. It was hers.
☙ The girl continued speaking, though, giving more insight to her explanation that left Shakaya quiet for a moment. If she was telling the truth...
☙ Before she got a chance to work through her thoughts, though, the girl turned her face, her eyes visible for the first time. The woman let out a startled gasp. They weren't the eyes of a human - shining a bright blue. But there was human emotion there - deep sadness. The girl was a Remnant! She had to be, with eyes like that! Neither humans nor New Children would have such features... But there were did that sorrow come from? Had she really just had a conversation with a Remnant?
☙ Under normal circumstances, that thought would've easily grabbed her attention, but right now her focus was still on the locket danging from her neck and the story she was telling. A Remnant... That left two possibilities. Either she was lying, and she was one of the Remnants who'd attacked her cousin's house. If that was the case... Shakaya felt her hands reach out to the weapon on her belt again. This time she pulled it all the way out, lifting it up as if she was about to throw it. But then she stopped, hesitating. But the girl might also be...
☙ Sometimes the victims of Remnant attacks didn't lose their lives - they lost their humanity instead, becoming almost unrecognizable as they shifted into Remnants themselves. That wasn't a thought she'd liked considering before, but...
☙ Her weapon still gripped tightly, she just kept staring at the girl. "That locket belonged to my cousin. She went missing after a Remnant attack, and was never found. Are you lying to me? Are you one of the one's who attacked her?" Her voice was like ice, the woman's sweaty palms giving away that she was ready to toss the disk if the girl said a single thing that could convince her that what she was beginning to suspect wasn't true. ...This Remnant couldn't really be her, could it?

I'LL KEEP YOU MY DIRTY LITTLE SECERTAli reconized this lady's voice from somewhere but...where? The blue haired woman wass wearing a lab coat and she rarely ventured into the classier districts, afraid they'd send soildiers or New Children after her because she was a Remnant. So where had she heard this lady's voice before? With a shrug, she put aside the thoughts. She needed to concentrate on survivng and by the look of the lady's weapon, she needed to think of something, fast.
Slowly, she began to concentrate the sound around her. Taking a little bit from the woman's voice, a little bit from her fire and some of the background noises in the distance, making things seem awfully quiet. Buut even with this, it couldn't get her much. She'd just have to keep waiting, she guessed.
Finally, the lady made some type of movement to take her weapon (which made a sound Ali also stole) and was abut to throw it when she stoped. One...Two...Three...Four...she counted the seconds that passed by, then the woman spoke up, accusing her of being one of the Remnants that attacked her cousin's place before she dissappeared. How would she know! She had no reccolection of anything before she woke up! This lady was starting to piss her off and her eyes slowly turned red, but one she was afraid that the blue woman would attack if her eyes were red, they turned back to blue.
"Hey," she said, her voice not sounding as child like as it had before, having more of an adult additude to it. "I don't know of anything before that night, before I woke up in that house. I don't know why I have this locket, why I'm here, anything but I do know-"
"Skylaaaar," a tall brunett called from the kitchen, brightly lit with candels. "Shaka!" she called to another as she tended to the food. The kitchen was tiled and clean as if it were brand new. She picked up a few pots and carried them to the tabel, placing them carefully on hot pads. The tabel they rested upon was covered in a cloth with an intricate desgin in the colors of red, orange and gold.
A blue haired woman came down a set of stairs with a tall dark haired man. He carried a few books and the blue haired woman looked satisfied wiith something.
"You like the books in our study, Shakaya?" the brunette asked hopefully as she sat down. The blue haired woman -Shakaya- sat down and replied with a yes before the man interupted by telling the brunette about the things they covered upstairs. He seemed very entergetic about it all.
Shakaya looked up at the brunette. "Lovely dinner, do you mind if I take home some, Ali-"
"...that...you're Shakaya," she continued after a long pause. What had that been? A flashback of a memory? Was she human before Remnant? Because if she was she was very pretty looking indeed and...Skylar, that man. Was Sky that man? They didn't seem very alike, but neither was she to that brunette lady.
"Hey...um...did that person...your cousin know a man named Skylar? Did he have a lockett too?"

♟ But You'd Look So Much Better inside out ♟
☙ For a split second, Shakaya swore she saw a red-tint come into the Remnant's eyes, but then it disappeared back to blue, something shifting in her demeanor as she continued to speak. She didn't know. She didn't remember. That's what the Remnant told her. Was she lying, or was she telling the truth? The woman wasn't even sure which she hoped, but before she could say anything, her strange blue eyes seemed to drift off somewhere distant.
☙ The next thing she said made Shakaya's eyes widen.
☙ She'd never introduced herself! How did this Remnant?!
☙ "H...how do you know my name!" She took a startled step back. Her hands were still gripping the weapon, but it began to droop slightly, the woman losing her fighting stance as the Remnant continued speaking, asking her a question this time. Skylar... An image of that man came back into her mind.
☙ The woman was completely silent for a moment, her somewhat messy azure locks falling over her face a bit as she eventually nodded. "She did... He was her..." Her voice trailed off. Skylar and Ali had been a couple...if she knew both her name and his... "He did have a locket, just like hers."
☙ Eventually, Shakaya forced her gaze back up, staring at the girl again. How?! This girl looked hardly anything like her cousin. She looked far younger than she did, her eyes still shimmering unnaturally. But...that's what happened to Remnants, wasn't it? They never looked the same anymore.
☙ "...Alice?" She spoke questioningly, the name hardly more than a whisper as it left her lips.

I'LL KEEP YOU MY DIRTY LITTLE SECERTAli watched Shakaya freak out. So...she hadn't seen watch she had? Yup, definatly a flash back, she thought to herself with a light nod of the head, the blanket falling ooff her head and around her shoulders flashing her bright yellow -not blonde, yellow- hair in the dark. She used her hand to flaten her hair, as if it'd make it less bright or standing out.
She let the woman talk, figuring things out in her head as Ali did the same. So if the brunette was Ali...and she was Ali then this lady would be her...cousin, then um...what would Sky be? He was Skylar, of course, but what was Sky to Shakaya and Ali? Or, at least, the old Ali.
The neon girl was brought back from her 'zoning' by a single word: Alice. Ugh, that felt so weird, and it was only a word. She felt her head thumping and it quickly became painful. She crouched fown and held her head in her hands. Alice, alice, if felt so fammilar. Ali...Alice...They were the same. Ali was a shorter version of Alice, so the name on her locket was a inscription of her nickname. If it was hers, but the earlier flashback proved it. If she had been a Remnant that attacked her then she wouldn't be having flashbacks about then. Unless she had been watching them, but she did not have a power that could let her spy without dection. This was too confusiong! Just...too damn confusing.
She felt tears swell in her neon eyes as she gave up and sat down on the dirty ground. Where was Sky. This was confusioning, she wanted him to be here to help her out."where's Sky?" she asked through tears. She picked up her head for a second to look around, but he still wasn't there. "Sky?!" she called to the wind. Nothing. Where was he? Confused, scared and stressed, she huddled back around her small, dying fire.

♟ But You'd Look So Much Better inside out ♟
☙ The blanket slipped down to the Remnant's shoulders, revealing her startling, neon yellow hair. It caught Shakaya off guard for a moment, but then she wasn't really surprised - after all, you never knew what to expect when dealing with a Remnant. It was yet another reminder that the person she wasn't looking at wasn't, or wasn't any longer, human.
☙ The Remnant had an abrupt reaction to the name, though, bending down with her head in her hands. She looked visibly upset, tense with water beginning to leak from under her eyes. Shakaya's gaze widened, the Remnant beginning to call out for Sky. It...was really her, wasn't it? The blue-haired woman felt her hands start to shake.
☙ Sky... That was what her nickname for Skylar had been. Was he here, too? Was he a Remnant? She glanced around not seeing anyone else.
☙ She suddenly felt a pang as the Remnant kept crying out. She didn't know where Skylar was, but... "Alice!" She cried out again, suddenly running towards the girl and wrapping her arms around her. It felt strange, to be so close to a Remnant. But this person wasn't just a Remnant.
☙ Once she'd lost her father, she hadn't had any family left, with no one remaining that she cared about except for Amaranth. Even though she didn't look the same anymore, the thought that this person was someone she'd once loved was enough to make her own eyes water. "Alice..." She started sobbing, unable to keep control of her fragile psyche anymore as tears kept dampening her face. Her cousin was a Remnant. She wasn't sure if they were tears of joy or sorrow, maybe an odd mixture of both.

He hugged a large brown paper bag to his chest, filled with warm potatoes. He had gotten a good deal on them with what little money he had left. All he had to do was act like a poor orphan, and he got two extra for free. That was two for him and two for Ali.
He hid his hair with a wool hat, and the hood of a sweater. His hair was carefully tucked away, under them both and Ali assured him that his hair couldn’t be seen.
He turned into the cemetery, but then dropped his bag as soon as he saw the scene in front of him.
Ali… was crying on the ground, with her hair exposed of all things! In front of her was a woman… a New Child? A human? His mind immediately began to assume the worse. Panic began to set in. His left eyelid twitched just slightly as he stared. His mind was completely blank with fear, and anger. The woman with blue hair suddenly fell to her knees and wrapped her arms around Ali. Seeing this snapped Sky into action.
He huffed and puffed as he ran towards them. “Ali!” he called out as he ran.
“Get away from Ali!” He screamed out in a fit. With his appearances, he must have looked like a child throwing a tantrum.
“Get away right now!” He repeated, his hands squeezed tightly into fists and his knuckles turning white. |

I'LL KEEP YOU MY DIRTY LITTLE SECERTAli wiped her eyes and her crying lessened. Where was Sky? He went off for food but.... She looked at the woman hugging her, calling her Alice. Sky should be back now and...and he wasn't going to like this, he wasn't going to believe this. Last time she tried to get someone on their side, he attacked them and made her leave them be, but she wasn't going to let Sky hurt Shakaya, now when she had remembered something. If she just hung out with this woman for a week or so, she might be able to remember everything! She wondered what that would be like.
Hearing Sky's voice come clearly through the cementary, she shot up, removing Shakaya from herself as she stood up. She would need to protect her, and Sky was going to have to listen.
"No! Sky! She's good! " a pause. "I...I remembered!" Ali said, knowing he'd know what she meant. They'd been trying so hard to remember who they were and now she finally knew something. He would listen, this was importent. "Listen to me! We...we used to be human! A nice house, you had dark hair and I had brown hair and we were adults, human adults, Sky," she said. Now to bring in the biig guns. "And this lady, Shakaya, I remember her too! We was our cousin! We used to have dinners with her! Try to remember, she knows us Sky." she held up her locket. "She knows about these too!"
She hoped that would be enough, she hoped that the three of them could settle this without getting hurt. If Sky still felt threatened, he'd attack her and in defence, she might use her weapon or, well, just take it. They were her cousins, if she remembered right. She wouldn't harm them, but just in case, to avoid all of that, she gave Sky that look that said "I know what I'm doing, so just believe me." He better not attack, not now, but as long as she stood infront of the woman, that wouldn't have as much of a chance to happen, right?

♟ But You'd Look So Much Better inside out ♟
☙ The moment where her arms remained wrapped around the Remnant and her thoughts remained wrapped around her memories didn't last long, a voice jolting Shakaya out of her thoughts.
☙ Another figure appeared, rushing towards them as he called out threats in a frantic voice. Disoriented for a moment, the General moved her gaze up in his direction. Admittedly, he didn't really look all that frightening, appearing to be young as well, but he knew Alice. Was he another Remnant? ...Was he...?
☙ Ali stood up as he approached, shouting back in the other Remnant's direction as she summarized everything Shakaya had already come to understand. The azure-haired woman eyed the male figure, unable to help herself from putting her hands back on her weapon as she quickly stood up, herself. She regretted that move later, realizing that it might make her look more like a threat when that wasn't really what she wanted right now, but it was in her instincts. Still...these particular Remnants were ones that she didn't want to fight. She needed to calm herself down.
☙ Slowly, she managed to pull her hand away from it, trying to meet the other Remnant's gaze. "...Skylar?" She inquired, an odd smile on her face. "...Do you remember me?"

She desperately shouted at him so that he would understand, but people inherently cannot understand each other. She was right to be so desperate, as it was an arduous task that was ahead of her.
‘Good? But she made you cry!’ The thought screamed out through Sky’s mind When Ali first said the human was ‘good’.
‘She’s a human… Humans do not understand us… humans fear what they don’t understand. They hate what they fear. They destroy what they hate!’ A voice called out to Sky in his head. It had not donned on him that he hated humans because he feared them as well.
“Kill her… I should kill her…” The voice rang through out his head. It was not a foreign voice telling him what to do. It was not some outside force trying to manipulate him. It was simply his own will.
Somehow he resisted against his instincts and what his inner voice called for him to do. He stayed his hand, even though he wanted to strike first so badly. His breath became heavy and shallow as he struggled. He was torn between himself, what he felt he had to do and what Ali clearly wanted from him, but he struggled and he resisted. It was all for her.
All for Ali.
His head began to ache heavily as he tried desperately to listen to Ali’s words. He raised a hand up to his forehead, as if that would somehow ease his migraine.
“Guh… Remembered?” He murmured in discomfort as Ali began to explain that she had recalled several things. The things she mentioned were unfamiliar to him. His mind was barely able to keep together, let alone remember anything like what she was saying.
But he kept staring into Ali’s eyes, and somehow he found himself calming down.
That was when he noticed the blue haired woman behind Ali. She was stood up and reached for her weapon and seeing that, Sky’s mind suddenly emptied and sprang into action. He reached his arm outwards to grab Ali, her being in between them. He tried to grab her and hug her close, and with that grip he would move her to the side. So that he would be in between her and the weapon. He closed his eyes tight as he awaited the attack, hoping to shield Ali with his body, but none ever came.
His eyes shot open when he heard the woman call out the name ‘Skylar’.
It was not his name… or was it? His name was Sky. That’s what he and Ali had decided on, anyway. And yet, somehow those two syllables seemed to ‘fit’ together. He slowly looked to the woman with blue hair.
“Remember…?” He practically whimpered, his body shaking. "N-no... I don't know you... I don't know you..." He said out loud, as if he were trying to convince himself instead. | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 60px 10px 10px; opacity: 0.8; text-align: left] Sky+Ali |

Ali -or should she be called Alice now?- was suprised to see Sky lunge forward and wrap his arms around her. It happened too fast for her to react, but if she had the time she would have struggled. Or would she? She trusted Sky. Not on this particular matter but she did trust him to keeep her safe and to never leave her side (though when he went out for food was another problem). In the case of a human or New Child, she would fight back. His urge to protect her was a bit overpowering when it came to these subjects and she had to stop him. She could have the Abel incident happen all over again.
But when Shakaya spoke, he seemed to freeze, almost. It was scary for her, she'd rarely seen him like this. He began to talk and didn't seem to remember. He had to remember! He just had to! A lot was counting on this. Please, remember, she thought to herself as she turned around and held on to hos shaking arms. Looking him in the eyes with a powerful and worried look, she spoke. "Try, Sky, try to remember."
