Number: PS113C "ABEL"
Actual Age: 3
Apparent Age: 18
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Animal: Horse
Skills:
- Object of Affection: Abel's owner originally had him created with the intention of using him for pleasure and secretly 'renting' him out to other people with similar intentions. With that in mind she requested that he be designed to be 'all of the things that a woman would want in a man'. She made this request in detail, based off of her own tastes and her understanding of what the consumers in this particular market want. This is the main reason why his animal half was chosen as a horse. Aside from the usual things you would expect him to be physically gifted with, he was genetically manipulated to potentially have a beautiful singing voice and was programmed with a general understanding of this skill. This way he could serenade his owner and clients. He was given several other skills like this, including cooking and other domestic chores. He was also programmed with basic understanding of romance and how to romance clients. Light candles, prepare wine, and other simple things like that. Aside from the usual things like talking and walking, he wasn't programmed with any other skills.
- Adv. Beast of Burden: Considering the initial intentions of Abel's original creator, he was bread to have certain inhuman capabilities. Originally his level was far from 'superhuman', but is becoming more and more impressive. His starting and potential physical attributes were always beyond that of a regular human. He still cannot lift city buses or leap over skyscrapers in a single bound. Also, whether or not he reaches his peak potential is still dictated by training and maintaining his body. Since escaping, Abel has been forced to fight more and more, especially after entering the wastelands. He has seen the need to maintain the training that he was once forced to do and has taken to it with a new zeal. His naturally improved abilities have become even more so stronger. His Stamina, speed, and agility have not increased significantly but remain his best attributes. However his weaker fields have improved dramatically. His strength now is much greater than the average New Child, instead of being only slightly so. His Endurance has shown great improvement in response to his suffering. It is now at the average for New Children. Abel has come to rely on some of the natural instincts that he inherited from Horses. By relying and using these more and more, he has developed them further. Like horses, his sense of balance has become quite suburb. Abel and horses in general develop this sense of balance through their acute sense of touch and partly due to their highly developed proprioceptive abilities (the unconscious sense of where the body and limbs are at all times). Abel's sense of touch and especially his proprioceptive abilities have also increased, making it very easy to use his impressive body even in dire situations. All other attributes seem to still be around the average for New Children, aside from horse related senses and abilities.
Master: Rouge
Purpose: I did not intend to instantly change the way things are. However, considering the nature of this site's society, and the condition of certain things (particularly the way New Children are treated) it's obvious that there would be those who aspire to rise up and resist their wretched fate. This is obviously a great ordeal and an incredible undertaking, that will not easily be accomplished (or even at all) but that's what makes it so interesting. No matter how much he suffers and struggles he cannot change the world alone, but perhaps he can at least set the foundations for a better future.
Summary: A young man born with very little, who tries desperately to scratch and claw his way up from the bottom through steadfast and unwavering determination.
Relationships:- Madame Eleanor Dorinda Gray: - Original Owner
- Muriel Wryte: - First Love
Inventory:- Sketch book: "Art is not something you make happen, it is something you let happen." This is one of the first few original thoughts Abel came upon on his own. It was neither taught to him or programed into him. He keeps a small journal where he can draw things as muse inspires him.
- Chain Cuff:Abel was kept bound to his bed by a long chain cuffed around his wrist. When he escaped he managed to break this chain, but he fled with the cuff on his wrist. He has since had key made, but has decided to keep wearing it. He has had it engraved with the words, "Memento Mori"
MP3 Player: A small, cheap MP3 Player. The kind you used to be able to buy for around $20. It was scavenged from the wastes, but was in its original packaging when it was found. It doesn't have any music files on it, but it does have a record feature. Able has taken to using it to create a diary of sorts, since he can't write and drawing all of his ideas in his sketch book is too difficult, and not really in the spirit of his art. Since its library is empty, it has plenty of space left on it. It was the cheap $20 kind of MP3 player that ran on one triple A battery. It came with one inside, but it won't last forever. He has to scavenge batteries from the wastes or try to buy them in Arcis when as it runs out. He uses it sparingly, because of this. Strange Mask: A simple, plain white mask that covers the entire face. It mimics the shape of the face, for the most part. The only exception is that there was no mouth. However, a smiling mouth has been painted onto it by Abel. The mask was salvaged from the wastes. When it was found, it had tear streams painted on it. Despite painting on a smiling mouth, Abel has decided to leave the tears in place. Making it a very strange mask.
Weapon:- Hunting Knife: He does not use weapons as a matter of principle. He simply does not want the world to decide for him that he has to carry a weapon with the intent of killing opponents. However, hunting bare handed had begun to feel a bit brutish and also inhumane, so he has started to carry a hunting knife that he salvaged from the wastes. [NONE]
History: PS113C "ABEL" was initially created with the intention of being used as an object of pleasure for both his owner as well as anyone was willing to pay his owner under the table. His owner already owned two other New Children who were created for this same purpose, and was seeing great profits. She created SP133C in the hopes of expanding her business, as well as alleviating her boredom with her first two New Children.
He spent his days and nights chained to his bed inside a small room. The chain was long enough so he could explore the room and even use a small personal bathroom. He was fed in his room as well. So he spent most of his life wearing a steel chained cuff around his wrist. The only time he was freed was to exercise, because of this, these times quickly became his favorite.
As he continued to work like this, satisfying old or ugly women with enough argent, he quickly became dissatisfied with his life. One day, he reasoned to ask his master why he had to live like this, chained to a bed and bound to service. For some reason this question surprised his master, and she simply answered him "Because, you are a New Child." He had been kept mostly ignorant, aside from the things that he had to do and the fact that he had to do them. The term was unfamiliar to him, and it answered his curiosity at the time. However, he occasionally continued to asking questions to his owner and certain clients. He was often punished for asking these questions. His body was too valuable to mark with beatings, so his master decided to deprive him of food. He went without food many nights, but did not stop asking his questions.
One particular client he asked a great many deal of questions. She was an odd old woman, who was unlike any of the other clients. Most used him for the same things. They all had their specific tastes and request, but hers was most unique because all she ever asked for was that he listen to her speak. Many times, she would just read to him stories. Of course, she would never teach him how to read himself, but she told him many fantastic stories. He had once asked her why her requests were so simple. She responded by telling him a story about her son, who died due to illness as a very young man. One day later, she decided to give him one of her books, but this one was empty of words. She told him that he could not write, but he should draw the things that he imagined, thought, and felt. This was a big risk for both of them, and she urged him to keep it secret.
Most of his answers came from her, even though it pained her to answer them sometimes. He was grateful to her, but came to understand his wretched fate because of her. This made his feelings towards her bittersweet, but of all his clients she was most special. You might even say that she was his first love. One day, however she had stopped coming to visit him. He never heard from her again, but considering her age it was likely she died. It wouldn't make sense for anyone to notify him of this, and it would explain the sudden and unexplained end of her routine visits. After she was gone, he realized that he missed and longed for someone for the first time. This sorrow and loss changed something in him. He could no longer put up with his miserable life, and decided that he must change things by his own power. Much like the heroes in some of her fables.
He decided he had to escape, but not just away from his master, but from the destiny that was forced upon him. He developed dreams of grandeur, and what's worse he actually believes he can accomplish these dreams. This was when he developed the idea of changing things for the better for his kind. He decided that he should not only save himself, but also all the New Children. Of course, he had no idea of how to do this, or if he even could, but deciding on dedicating the rest of his life towards this dream was a major first step.
Still, he was chained to a bed and had to deal with that first. He began to make it a habit to go through his client's things if they fell asleep. With his talents in romance, he managed to convince many of them to relax and stay the night. He searched their things for something of use, or something he could use. He sometimes found a book, but could not read them. They reminded him of his unusual client, however and inspired him to continue to struggle on. He did not take anything, for fear of being exposed, until he found a large sturdy nail file.
He learned from the stories that a chain was only as strong as its weakest link. He had noticed that parts of his chain were rusted. He picked the closest one to his wrist and used the stolen file to break it. Under the cover of night he managed to escape the only home he had ever known.
He had gone unnamed for a long time, simply being referred to as 'You There' or 'That One', he choose his own name. Of the stories that were read to him by his unusual client, many were from an old relic of a book. Apparently it was common in the surface world, and so it was still not very valuable. He was told the book was titled "Bible". He was confused about whether the stories she read from it were fiction or history, and this question had peaked his interests.
One story in particular became his favorite, and he would ask for it to be told him over and over. It was the story of "Cain and Abel". "Abel" is considered one of the first victims of evil, and thus a martyr. "PS113C identified with the idea of being a victim, but he did not choose the name right there and then, but instead much later.
It was after he had escaped, when he was a free man, when he decided he could no longer go by his ID number, for obvious reasons. He choose the name Abel, knowing that he was a victim, and to accomplish his goals he might one day have to become a martyr himself. The figure "Jesus" from the same book, was also a martyr, but this character seemed too 'perfect', and was difficult to identify with. More importantly, in PS113C's eyes, Jesus was too lenient. Jesus taught forgiveness and even as a martyr, his story also suggested that those who wronged him should be forgiven. However, in Cain and Abel's story, Abel was wronged and Cain was punished. In Abel's case, his death as a martyr called for revenge and punishment. This was what appealed to PS113C and convinced him to take on this name.
See The Light:
- Nobel: Abel was deprived of a proper education and practically raised on stories and fables of heroism. He has developed a strong moral code, because of this.
- Confident: Abel takes confidence in his training. Whenever he doubts he trains. Whenever he hesitates he trains. Whenever he has regrets he trains. Whenever he is afraid he trains. He takes confidence in this training, and knows that all the blood, sweat, and tears he's poured out of his body cannot be all for nothing.
- Determined: With his confidence he is able to move forward towards his noble ideals with unwavering dedication and determination.
- Resilient: Despite, all of his suffering and years of servitude, he can still feel joy and happiness. This is a remarkable feat, which many who are in similar situations, have failed to accomplish. "No matter what tragedies befall upon me, and no matter what horrors I have to face, I still want to be able to smile," - Abel.
- Mask: One of his programmed skills was romance, and he was instructed to act romantically even though he did not feel love for any of the women. At first it did not go well, but eventually he became a great liar, an indispensable tool for his continued survival.
Fear The Dark:- Self Righteous: He views himself and his kind as a victim, and will work towards righting this injustice. Whether this is true or not is not the point. The fact that he feels this way can lead him to feel self righteous, which makes it easy for him to stray from the path of true justice. It is easy for him to become lost in his personal feelings and make poor choices. It would be easy for him stray so far that he would wrongfully condemn innocent people.
- Delusional: Abel has dreams of grandeur. What's worse, is he actually believes he can accomplish his dreams. He is not satisfied with saving himself, and wants to save everyone like him. People with large goals and no means like him don't tend to live very long. He even entertains fantasies of sacrificing himself for the greater good, which is a dangerous concept. He genuinely believes that if he works hard and stays true, that he will be able to live happily ever after, like in one of the stories that was read to him.
- Naive: Abel was raised on fables, myths, and fairy tales. One of the ideals he has learned from them is trust. He wants to be trusting of people, both New Children and Humans. Maybe, even Remnants, though he knows little about them. He simply does not want to live in a world were he cannot trust people, and so he decides that he shall trust them, despite the fact that it is probably not a good idea.
- Stubborn: The downside of being determined and confident is that you tend to believe you are always right, when this is almost always never so. Abel is wrong sometimes, maybe even often, but convincing himself of this can be difficult.
- Vengeful: Abel wants revenge for the genuine suffering that he's been forced to endure. In many of the stories he was told, vengeance does not end well. It causes suffering for everyone involved. Despite this, he actively pursues his vengeance and entertains the idea of punishing Humans. This goal, is separate and secondary to his goal of saving his own people. He is conflicted over, which goal he should devote himself to. In truth the two goals hinder each other. As a New Child, if he punishes humanity, he would create distrust, fear, and hatred for New Children.
