[atrb=style, padding: 1px 60px 10px 10px; opacity: 0.8; text-align: left] The day was much like any other in winter, it was cold and the sky was cloudily signaling a coming storm, but for now there was enough sunlight breaking through to call it bright out. The sun reflected off of the snow brightly. That One tried to shield its eyes from this, but there were just too many. Its sight had become even more disoriented because of this, and it began to thrash around violently. As it did it let out a loud roar. It had multiple throats and lungs, which made its call unique in its sound, and many of these mouths could only make horrible throat noises and gagging sounds. Any creature that knew this sound knew instantly to flee. So oddly enough The Carnival was deserted. It was usually filled with Remnants. Many of them were originally animals, and had learned that the Carnival area was a place where humans dropped food often, but it had been decades since humans had been to this place. So why did they still gather here. There were many birds like Remnants circling above, and to be honest they were just too small to feed That One, and so it rarely killed them. As a direct result they learned not to fear him. Of course when it thrashed around and let out its roars, they would take to the skies, but after it settled down they began to return to their search for food. Many perched onto him, directly. They rested on its many extra feeble limbs, picking at the extra corpses it kept on its back among them. It also dragged a deer like corpse along the ground, by its neck, in one of its hands as it moved through the Carnival. Its limbs were long and had extra joints, making its strides awkward and unlike any other animal in the world, but somehow its powerful muscles managed to keep these limbs together and moving at a steady pace. It crawled along on its four major limbs, pressing the corpse it held in its hand into the ground with each step. Suddenly That One stopped. It raised its head into the air and its nose sockets sucked in air abruptly. As suddenly as it had stopped, it sprang into action again. As it did, the birds perched onto it flew high up into the air. It turned and slammed into a stall breaking through it with ease and moving through it. It crossed several aisles of stalls, crashing through the stalls with great speed and power. Finally it found what it was looking for. It was another small Remnant, this one looked dog or wolf like. One of its legs had been wounded, and it had been dragging its self away from That One, leaving behind a crimson trail. It, like the other Remnants in the area, understood the food chain and knew who stood at the top. As soon as That One saw this creature, it raised its free hand high into the air and slammed it down onto the animal Remnant. The large hand with many extra fingers slammed hard into the creature’s back, crushing many of its ribs. The hands then gripped around the creature’s neck and lifted it up. It slowly squeezed the life out of the creature, and then reached back to place the fresh corpse onto its back. The wolf Remnant’s corpse hung limply onto some of That One’s extra limbs growing on its back. After successfully completing another hunt, That One decided to raise up the deer corpse and take some satisfying bites out of it. |
