History: The Lost was born into what was once a rather prestigious family, but during humanity's migration underground they lost everything. They were among the lucky to survive, but their business and great fortune was all lost. Things steadily became worse and worse for them. Some family members refusing to give up their lavish life styles, creating huge amounts of debt and draining what little funds the family managed to hang onto.
The family fell so far from being part of the noble elite, that they could only afford to survive in the Southern District of Arcis. Among them was The Lost's father, who worked several jobs to afford his tiny apartment. Despite his situation, love found its way, and he married a young woman whom he met at one of his jobs.
The two newlyweds could barely raise enough money for themselves. They were not planning to have a child, but they did. At first, the mother was unwilling to give up her child, and the father was determined to some how support his family.
Of course while pregnant, the mother could not work her jobs, and was quickly replaced. The job situation was not so ideal that you could expect to take a few months off and still have your jobs waiting for you. With out her income, and more expenses on the way, the father had no choice but to take up more jobs. As a result, he was never around to take care of his pregnant wife.
She basically went through her whole pregnancy with nothing but her husband's paychecks to keep her company. It was natural that she developed postpartum depression, that due to the poor conditions in the Southern slums, went untreated.
The two parents continued to struggle to make it by. They began associate their suffering with their child, but they had no other choice but to keep raising him. They began to abuse him and beat him at an early age. Tensions between them also became strained as their living situation deteriorated more and more.
Eventually, they had enough. They simply couldn't survive like this any longer. The bills were piling up, and their fridge was empty. The two of them decided they could not keep their child.
Together, they took their child to an upscale park in the Western District. He was already eight years old, but still very much a child. He had never been there before, but was excited to be in such a beautiful place. He had never seen anyplace look so clean and nice. It felt like he could be happy here. He had never felt this way before, and was excited when his parents told him that he could play in the park all day.
That was probably the happiness day of his life. Even if he was a bit hungry.
But after his day of playing, he couldn't find his parents. He didn't know what to do. He was just lost. He could never handle the idea that his parents abandoned him, and so he told himself that he had gotten lost.
He managed to make his way back into the Southern District, where he spent the next few years as a street urchin and vagabond. He stayed alive by eating out of the trash and even stealing. He had several close calls, but he was always fast enough to get away in the crowds. He slept in alley ways and slowly began to reside himself to his fate.
One day, he managed to find his old home, from what little he remembered. He was happy, but afraid to face his parents after all of this time. He simply convinced himself that they would welcome their lost child back home joyously, and with that, he had worked up the courage to knock on the front door.
However, the person who answered the door was not his father. It was someone else, and inside the apartment, he could see a different family in a different home. Was it the wrong place? No, the walls and the layout of the apartment seemed right from where he was standing. The hallways he as in, and the building was right as well... His parents must have moved out some time ago... and another family had moved in their place.
The man shouted for the dirty street urchin to leave, and so he did.
The Lost did not talk much to the other bums or homeless people in the alley ways and gutters he lived in. In fact, he barely spoke at all. He grew to despise people. Even other bums shamelessly stole from each other and mistreated each other. He was beaten several times for what little he had managed to get his dirty hands on.
One day, he had managed to steal a cold cut sandwich. It was a simple sandwich wrapped in plastic. Nothing special. He ducked into a familiar alley to feed himself, but before he could take a bite, another homeless person came up to him. He was drunk, and wearing several layers of dirty clothes. He began to call out, speaking belligerently, though it was clear he wanted the sandwich.
The Lost refused to give up his hard won meal, and turned to run, but the man lunged at him, tackling him to the ground. They began to struggle and wrestle for the sandwich. The Lost struck and kicked the man several times, enraging him. The sandwich fell to the side, and it seems the drunken bum had completely forgotten about it. Instead he held The Lost down and pull out a rusty iron knife. He raised it up high, with the intent of stabbing the young child.
The Lost stared up at the blade, as time seemed to stand still Again, he simply resided himself to his fate, but as the man began to bring the knife down, his arm was caught by a strong grip. Another man, who had been sleeping in the alley had intervened at the last second. Their struggling had woken him up, and when he realized what was happening, he sprang into action.
After stopping the man's stab, the newcomer struck man across the face with a powerful punch. The man was knocked out cold, and the newcomer dragged his limp body off of The Lost.
The Lost offered half of his sandwich to the newcomer and learned his name to be "Abel".
The two came to know and look out for each other in the next few days. Abel managed to get a few jobs, despite being a runaway New Child, and he made sure to feed The Lost, even though Lost never asked for him to. The Lost was thankful to this "Abel", but at the same time, he found the strange man to be kind of annoying.
He kept going on about his ideals and his dreams, but he still lived in these same alleyways. He kept talking about going out to the wastelands... to learn of the world, and how Arcis was a prison. At first that seemed like suicide to The Lost, but then he began to think that even dying out there would be better than living like had been living.
But it didn't matter, he doubted that Abel would ever actually leave these alleys. When he found out that Abel was ready to leave, he desperately began to search for Abel. When he found Abel, he begged for the New Child to take him along, but Abel refused. He said that it was too dangerous, and that Lost was too young. Before he left, he gave The Lost a small allowance of money, saying he wouldn't be able to buy anything with it in the wastelands.
That was the last that The Lost ever saw of Abel, but he's sure that the man is alive somewhere.
See The Light:- Calm -
You'll see you have more to give, When you fight your will to live. Leonard genuinely believes that his life is not valuable. This is both his greatest strength as well as his worst flaw. As a side effect, he does not fear death. With this, he is able to remain cool, calm and collected, even under fire.
- Honorable - Despite everything that's happened to him, The Lost has developed a weak sense of honor that is slowly becoming stronger and stronger. Meeting Abel, and listening to his stories, ideals, and goals, has slowly began to make him feel guilty. He will steal for survival, however.
- Adaptable - The Lost wouldn't have been able to survive for this long, if it weren't for his ability to adapt.
- Loyal - He doesn't have many friends, but he will never betray his friends.
- Determined - Despite, his generally calm demeanor and lack of self value, Leonard is very hard working. He always tries his hardest when he does decide to do something.
Fear The Dark:- Introverted -
You'll see you have more to give, When you fight your will to live. Leonard genuinely believes that his life is not valuable. This is both his greatest strength as well as his worst flaw. As a side effect, he does not actively pursue life. He will often let others have what he wants as long as he does not need it to survive, and does not actively seek out rewards or benefits. He only seeks what is needed to survive, and then only with reserved interest.
- Wallflower - He calls himself "The Lost" and doesn't talk a lot. A lot of people would be thankful for the peace and quiet, but in reality that makes Leonard a bit of a boring guy to hang out with.
- Jaded - Leonard's hard life has left him quite jaded. He is very suspicious of people he hasn't met, and even after becoming friends or allies he will not trust people.
- Temper - Leonard has a bit of a temper. Its really the only emotion he ever really shows. Normally he is, cool, calm, and collected, but if you make him angry he will let you know it. He's spiteful and holds a grudge as well.
- Fan boy - Hero worship is unhealthy, and he has chosen a role model to follow in life that might not be the best choice. His hero is a rouge, wanted by the law, and has fled to the wasteland. He also has dreams of grandeur that will put him and everyone around him at risk. As such, The Lost is very much at risk, if he continues to follow and look up to this dangerous element.
