I Have a Secret Message for You, Oh King. - ✝ - IC looked out over the wastelands from inside the window of an old ruined building. He scanned the streets, not seeing much, as usual. He took out a notebook he had in his satchel and opened it up. He then took out an apparently inkless pen, and began writing on the pages of the notebook. The pen did have a special kind of ink in it though; ink that only his eyes could see.
- ✝ - On that page, were tons of notes he had written down. It appeared to be a list of words, with definitions next to them; but upon closer review, it was not a self-made dictionary; it was a list of things, places more so, that IC had found in the wilderness and next to them was their exact distances, in meters, from 5 or 6 of the nearest landmarks. After he finished writing, he turned to another page where he had drawn a map in the very same pen. The top of that page was labeled “The City.”
- ✝ - Suddenly, he heard some-one talking in the streets. He looked down, from where he surely could not be seen, and watched two other New Children headed down the street. He put away the notebook map, and the pen, and left his perch, headed for a stairway leading down to the ground floor.

Would You Walk With Me, In the Shadow’s Vale, - ✝ - “Actually,” Adia continued talking, “While I do remember more now than I did a few days back, I still can’t recall what remnant I was supposed to hunt down or why. It’s strange, almost as if what remnant it was wasn’t very important at all. I’ve been thinking about it more and more lately; what if it wasn’t a remnant I was supposed to hunt, but something else, and I’ve just forgotten. I was designed to hunt remnants down, so it would only make sense that I should be hunting one now; so it’s entirely possible that my ‘mission’ was just a fabrication of my mental processes, and I have no real memory of what I was supposed to be doing out here.”
- ✝ - As Adia rambled on about her continuous theorizing, she walked by the entrance of the same building IC was hiding out in; she stopped suddenly, and looked around. “Abel,” she said quietly, “There is… another New Child here I think… but the scent is so… faint… I can’t tell for sure. Something definitely went by here though,” she said and turned, pointing into the large building, “And went into that building.”
- ✝ - She then put her arm down and looked at Abel with big, begging eyes, much like that of a suddenly excited child or puppy, or both. And asked him, pulling her arms in close to her chest as if hoping for a reward of some kind “Want to check it out?”

He wanted to chime in and interject, here and there, but he decided that she was just sorting out her own thoughts by speaking, and didn't really need outside influence. In fact, that could have hurt her as she tried to recall her memories.
New memories and ideas would interfere and confuse those already vague memories she had lost and was looking for. Or at least that's what he thought.
So he remained quite, and simply nodded to her any time she looked over to him, to make it look like he was paying attention. Of course, he was paying attention, but he had to let he know that, too. He had also picked up a mask along the way. He had seen it in a shop window, and it just seemed to call out to him. He had been cleaning it off for awhile and had just gotten that odd musky smell out of the inside of it, when Adia called out to him and told her of the certain possibility of another New Child.
He put on the mask he was holding, and then gave her a quick nod to agree to her request.
"Eh heh... maybe a new friend, huh?" Abel added with an unseen smile. | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 60px 10px 10px; opacity: 0.8; text-align: left] Some things, cannot be forgiven. |

Would You Walk With Me, In the Shadow’s Vale, - ✝ - Adia jumped with excitement; something about grasping more of her memories heightened her emotions. Her jacket had been torn and broken from battles a few days ago when she was forced to transform without loosen her clothes first. She now wore the same jacket backwards, under her shoulders with its arms tied around her back; its hood was completely torn off, as was the jacket’s tail. Her pants were in a similar situation, as they were torn at the waist to the point where wearing them normally would keep them from staying on. She had messed with it enough to where they were more like shorts now, tied up and hanging around her hips by the laces of her boots. Without laces, she had used whatever scraps she had left to turn her boots into what could pass as sandals.
- ✝ - The main reason she had wanted to go into the city was to search for some replacement articles of clothing; and as she ran into the building to follow the barely noticeable trail of the other new child, she slowly stopped and looked around, finding herself in exactly the kind of place she was looking for. The ground level of the ruined building was some kind of clothing store. She looked around happily and then refocused; saying, “A little bit longer,” under her breath and continuing on towards the stairs.

I Have a Secret Message for You, Oh King. - ✝ - IC had gotten about halfway down the huge city building when he heard the echoes of Adia coming up the stairwell. “If those new children are soldiers,” he thought to himself, “They might be here to apprehend me. I should try and hide. As IC concluded his next move in his mind, he busted into a door and closed it behind him, running through the halls of the building and busting through another door into an apartment of some sort. That door broke opened though, so he couldn’t close it behind him.
He hid himself in a bedroom within that apartment room, and listened carefully to hear if his would be captors could follow him. As he waited, he drew his dagger, and bit his teeth down gently but firmly on the steel blade, secreting venom onto the metal. He pulled it from his mouth and used a finger to spread the poisonous substance over his weapon, and he waited, silently.

If only he had been standing behind her... at that angle.. he might have been able to see... wait no, he should not have been thinking of that. Thankfully, his mask hid the stupid smile he must have been wearing.
He shook his head, thinking only of pure thoughts again, and followed her into the ruined store.
He followed her up the stairs, and naturally he looked up to see... ahead of himself...
"Adia... you sure you won't just borrow my coat? I have many layers..." Out in the wasteland, it was smart to hang onto what you could find and use, so whenever he had come across something, he picked it up. For instance, as Adia and began to browse through the clothing leisurely, he simply reached out and grabbed a few things that had the same color as his new mask. It didn't hurt to have matching clothes. He was sorting through what he had picked up. They didn't look like men's clothes though, most of them. In the end he decided it was a woman's store and only held onto them in case Adia would want them.
He knew she must have been cold... well she had been frozen for awhile, and could breath fire... so this might not have been so bad. But it was still winter... wasn't it? How long had he been out here? How much longer should he stay? He began to wonder these things as he followed Adia up the stairs.

I Have a Secret Message for You, Oh King. - ✝ - IC heard them coming and prepared himself. He moved to right near the apartment room door, staying against the wall and out of sight until what he only assumed were his enemies arrived. His nerves calmed themselves as he stopped his breathing temporarily. He held his dagger ready for the strike. His eyes didn’t blink, and he waited to see some form of air displacement right before his opponent would enter the room.
- ✝ - “If they’re friendly,” he thought to himself, “This won’t do anything permanent, and I can make up for it later. If they’re hostile… I will have to come back for the first one and kill them as well. It also would mean that my cover is blown, and I’ll have to try to sneak back into Arcis. I hope they’re friendly… and I hope they’re the forgiving type…” As he thought to himself, he listened carefully, “Two of them, definitely two of them. And one of them is charging by the sound of it. I’m ready… your move, infantry.”

Would You Walk With Me, In the Shadow’s Vale, - ✝ - Once Adia reached the halfway point, she stopped and looked up the stairs and at a closed door; her head turning back and forth again and again to the two pathways. “I bet,” she said before slamming into the closed door, busting its rusted hinges easily, “Door!” She raced through the halls and into an apartment room where suddenly she felt a slash across her side.
- ✝ - She whipped around, looking for her assailant quickly, and slowly began to realize her senses were going null. Her hearing vanished, and her smell quicker than that. In just a few short seconds, she went completely blind and muttered, “Not again,” before she found herself stumbling and finally tripping, falling flat on the floor and groaning. She could still feel the floor under her, and she could taste dust, and rust from the ground where she landed. She reached her hands up, instinctively to the spot where she was slashed, and gripped it tightly; just a flesh wound, but she could soon be dead if she didn’t get help fast.

Abel called out as he saw her be attacked down the hallway. He was a few steps behind, and dropped the clothes he was carrying. He charged forward, with a new sense of purpose.
His many layers of worn, dirty clothes didn't hinder his movements at all. If they did, they would be ripped easily by his powerful muscles.
Cracks began to appear on the floor with each stride as he pushed off the ground with all of his power.
The end result was that he cleared the distance between them in an instant. He barely saw the attacker, but he could tell that he was behind the wall near the doorway that Adia had just run through. He had only caught a glimpse of him during the attack.
He charged towards the doorway, but did not pass through it. Instead he came to a stop, planting his left foot firmly, and spent what was left of his momentum to add power to a round house kick into the wall besides the doorway.
The wall shattered into a few large pieces of dry wall and a lost of dust, that would have been sent flying towards the man, if he had been still standing behind it. He angled the kick, so that Adia wouldn't be hit by much of the debris.
From how quickly she fell, he knew right away that it was something odd... he couldn't imagine the strong Adia had been taken down instantly... surely she wasn't dead... was she? With out the right information, he began to panic, fearing the worse, but anger was more useful than sorrow.
And his pain became motivation to strike down this unknown assailant. | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 60px 10px 10px; opacity: 0.8; text-align: left] Some things, cannot be forgiven. |

I Have a Secret Message for You, Oh King. - ✝ - IC was an exceptional hunter, no doubt; but he definitely was not as experience in hand to hand combat, even with his training as a former infantry new child. He was dealt a hard blow and was knocked back to an adjoining wall. He fell to the ground and then struggled to get back up, groaning and trying to catch his breath. His skill was all in precision and carefully planned quick strikes, so there was no way he was going to go mano y mano with Abel.
- ✝ - He dropped his venom laden dagger and put his hands in the air, “I give,” he said as he stayed put on the ground, sitting on his knees. “I know my limits, I can’t fight you. I suppose you’re here to take me back to Arcis then. I’ll go quietly; it’s not worth dying for.” He sat still, his chest heaving heavily as he slowly regained a regular breath; the kick had nearly knocked the wind out of him.

Victory should be precise and decisive, with out waste. Battles were usually won or lost in the blink of an eye. Abel was still working on his finesse, but his raw power was enough to overwhelm most opponents he met out in the wastelands. The generally overwhelmed most Remnants with one blow, sending them running away, but this was no Remnant.
It was a fellow New Child... who had chosen to attack and injure one of his own.
"I don't know what you're talking about... and I don't care! What did you do to her?!" Abel screamed at the surrendered man, with his fists gripped tight. Of course he was referring to Adia, who seemed to still be lying down on the floor. He did not feel like beating a man who had surrendered, but some things simply can't be forgiven. His tone of voice was uncharacteristically harsh and agitated. This was among his worst fears... losing someone important to him. His frantic, aggressive screaming must have sounded odd coming from his crying/smiling mask.
He wanted to tend to Adia's wounds, but he didn't feel like lowering his guard just yet. He stomped through the hole he had made, and entered the room, stepping over the debris. He carefully kicked the knife aside with his thick boot, and it slid waaaay across the room, away from Adia and the two men.
If Adia was hurt... if she was dead... he wouldn't hold back.

- ✝ - Adia couldn’t see, hear, or smell anything. She felt and groped around the floor and the walls, moving up to and sitting against a wall as she waited for something to happen. She had a similar poison afflict her before, so she knew that it was no use trying to run or fight at this point; she could only hope things turned out better.
- ✝ - She breathed quietly, and let off pressure from her cut as she realized it wasn’t anything serious, hung her head down, waiting for something to happen that she could feel or taste, or for the venom’s effects to wear off. While she couldn’t hear or see anything, she could still speak, and decided to say something in case some-one was there. Her words were jumbled a bit, but it was still clear enough to understand, “Abel, you’re here, I’m fine; it’s the same poison as the snake in the forest, it’ll wear off. Other dude… please… don’t hurt me…”

I Have a Secret Message for You, Oh King. - ✝ - “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” IC heard Abel say in his frustration. He quickly realized that they did not have hostile intent, and put his arms down. He began to formulate an antidote to his venom, and used his thumb to press into his canines and covered his thumb and fingers in the anti-venom that protruded from the roof of his mouth.
- ✝ - “I’m sorry,” he said after he pulled his hand from his mouth, “I have some pretty valuable secrets that simply cannot be revealed; and I thought that you were likely sent out here to find me and take me in for questioning. Since you’re obviously not here to do that, I can only ask that you forgive me.” The way he talked seemed sincere, but at the same time negligent of the damage he’d done, like what he was doing was so much more important that any losses he caused were negligible.
- ✝ - “I poisoned her with a perceptive sensory nullifying venom,” he said as he slowly, and carefully got up, moving towards the door, and closer to Adia, “It’s only temporary, and I was going to try and escape without killing you; but I can give her an anti-venom, and the symptoms will stop much faster.” He kept his eye on Abel as he walked by, making sure he understood what he was doing, and wouldn’t try to attack again.
I Have a Message from God for You.
